Back up and running (Almost)

Lazy Feet to Triathlete is back up and running (well almost). Unfortunately, because I broke my foot, I am unable to participate this September in the Nation's Triathlon. The good news is I am able to transfer to next season!

The Spring race is Memphis in May Triathlon on May 17, 2009. The race is in the park setting of Edmund Orgill Park within the mostly rural area of Millington, TN. The 40K bike course is flat and the 10K run is moderately hilly. Average water temperature for the 1.5K swim is between 65-75 degrees. I have never been to Tennessee before,so I am really excited!

Thank you so much for your support to everyone that have
already donated money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Your generosity will carry over to my new goal for the Spring. Thank you everyone else for your interest in Team in Training's cause and for future donations.

Please keep in touch to track my progress both physically and fund raising efforts. If I can do it, I believe anyone can! It's time to put my Lazy Feet in to action! I appreciate your help to reach my goal of raising money to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Thanks for reading! Don't forget to check out my fund raising web site at: http://pages.teamintraining.org/epa/nattri08/jsitkoff

All donations are 100% tax deductible. And, please inquire if your company participates in corporate sponsorships or has a matching gift program. If you could also forward this e-mail to anyone who might be interested.

Many thanks,

Jessica participating in a Triathlon? Yes you heard right.

Yes this is real. Don't adjust your computer screen. I have signed up to train for and complete the Nation's Triathlon this September in Washington D.C while raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I'm sure a lot of you are asking why? I've always liked the idea of participating in an endurance race of some kind, but it never seemed like it could be a reality. I've tried to train for 5K races on my own, and could never commit to training and completing one. I've received many mailings from Team in Training, a training program that raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. So not only will I be getting in shape, and have expert trainers, it will be for a good cause! This is exactly the kind of motivation I need, and I'm excited to do it.

The course includes a 1.5K swim (about 1 mile), 40K bike ride (about 25 miles), 10K run (6.2 miles). To learn more about the Nation's triathlon or to see the course go to:

This is the first post to many, tracking my progress both physically and fund raising efforts. If I can do it, I believe anyone can! It's time to put my Lazy Feet in to action!
